First Harvest

Other than picking berries as they appear (which is grand total of ~500g of rasberries and maybe 10 small strawberries). This is the first big harvest we've had out of the garden this year.

With the obligatory teaspoon for reference.

We have sane sized carrots this year! After the joy of totally intentional baby carrots last year it's nice to have some reasonably normal sized ones (and a funky shaped one!). Even the purple carrot is a good size (even though the purple is only on the outer 1/5 of the carrot teh middle is orange, no pics as I was busy making dinner at the time). There's also a plants worth of potatoes for potato salad and a stick of rhubarb (mostly to save the poor corn plant that's been swamped by rhubarb) that made a tasty mini-crumble.

Good result that! I discovered the purple-carrots-that-aren't-really-purple thing last year - there's only a few varieties which are purple through and through. I'm trying Purple Sun this year; I'll let you know how they turn out.

Very good start - although I'd see that as an excuse for home-brew root veg mash (subject to potato variety) :)

Would you be interested in a vegan potato salad recipe? It's a nice alternative and works hot or cold.
